Nelson Lawson v. Robert F. Logan. Writ of Habeas Corpus

"By the Habeas Corpus Act."

The State of Missouri to the Jailor of the County of St. Louis _ Greeting: _

You are hereby commanded that the body of Nelson Lawson, in the Jail of the said County of St. Louis, under your custody detained, as it is said, under safe and secure conduct, together with the day and cause of his being imprisoned and detained, by whatsoever name the said Nelson Lawson may be known, you have before me, Henry Dusenbury, Law Commissioner in and for the County of St. Louis, at the Courthouse in the City of St. Louis in said County, on the 24th day of June 1858, to do and receive what shall then and there be considered concerning the said Nelson Lawson so imprisoned and detained as aforesaid; and hereof fail not at you peril.
