John Plackett and May Plackett v. Missouri. Order

 

County of St Louis - The State of Missouri

To the constable of St Louis Township and the keeper of the Jail of Said County Greeting-

These are to command you the said constable forthwith to convey and deliver into the custody of the keeper of the Jail of the County of St Louis aforesaid the body of John Plackett and that of [] Plackett his wife of St Louis taken and brought before me, a Justice of the peace within and for the county aforesaid and charged before me upon the oaths of Jabez Warner E.H. Shepherd and John Finney with barbarous and inhuman treatment to a certain Female child (called (Lucy as has since been understood) maiming beating and ill using said child to the danger of her life. And you the said keeper of the said Jail are hereby required to receive the said John Plackett and [] Plackett his wife into your custody in the said Jail and them there safely keep until they shall thence be discharged by due course of law— Given under my hand and seal at the County aforesaid this nineteenth day of December in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight hundred and Twenty Five
