To the Sheriff of said County " Greeting

We command you to summon Elijah Mitchel that he be and appear before the Judge of our Circuit Court at the next term therof to be held at the Town of Herculaneum within and for said County on the third Monday of July next. Then and there to answer unto Michael an infant a boy of color of a plea of trespass to the damage of the suit plaintiff five hundred dollars. that have you then there this court
