Case Summary

J. Charles E. Joy files for a writ of habeas on behalf of Stella S. Joy on June 3rd of 1899 with the claim that Stella is being held unlawfully in her father's house. Charles W. Ogle, Stella's father, is allegedly depriving her of her liberty at 2726 Charles Street in Omaha, Nebraska. Judge Cunningham Scott approves the writ and orders the clerk to send an order to the sheriff and bring Stella Joy before him. Judge Scott finds that Stella Joy is indeed illegally deprived of her liberty by her father and is discharged from custody.
