I reside in town Spokane Falls in a lodging at the Brewery, I Knew James Finch in his life time that was his right name, did not see him after death, saw him after he was shot seen him over in this house where he was shot saw wound on him saw him about 8 O'clock PM before he was wounded, I was only in about 5 or 10 minutes Went out and they would not let me in again, Dr. Morgan was there when I was there

I knew this man in his life time knew him since I was twenty[?] years old. Know him about here six weeks He had working[?] about three miles above Spangle for Kingman & Smith I was working there with him knew him pretty well not engaged in buisness together in any way Had been working together Called each other partners this was the first time he told me that he was ever[?] in Spokane Falls Would he said to see the town Came in town with him on the afternoon of the Homicide at about 4 O'Clock the Bank was just closed they were a few minutes late Could not Cash their Checks Remained together up to 8 OClock left him about that time   five of us altogether came into town in the same wagon He had been drinking before we came to town got some Whiskey at Spangle He was feeling pretty frisky when we came in saw him drink two or three drinks at the Spangle Brewery where he was lodging he drank beer in town up to eight O'Clock and occasionaly Mixed in Whiskey took supper with him that night came into the Restaurant and I asked him if he had had his supper and he said yes asked him to eat again and he sat down and did so took supper at about 8 O'Clock and I left him He got same money on his checks from the Spangled Brewery went from there to the Clothing store bought Coat hat and under Clothes and I think a vest and paid $18 on them

Went from there to another beer saloon 5¢ beer He was pretty well under the influnce of liquor when we seperated did not see him then until after the shooting I was under the influence knew what I was doing had a little in when I was done[?] at the house did not not notice any thing at the house except the doctor did not tell Jim where he might paid me   did not expect to loose him long he was looking I did not know it until to day that he was looking[?]I that night at $33 I told him if he wanted to paid me to come to $33

I came with him from Spangle when I last saw him leave me he could carry his load all right, could walk all right, [?] no harm in him have known him since I was 12 years old
