Second Judicial District

To the Sheriff of Pierce County Greeting

In the name of the United States of America you are hereby commanded to take the body of James Riley if to be found in this District and him safely keep so that you have him before the United States District Court for the Second Judicial District of Washington Territory to be begun and held at Olympia said district on the second Monday of March next ensuing it being the 10th day of said month 1862 to answer to the Territory of Washington in a charge of an assault and battery with intent to kill

Herein fail not and have you then and there this writ

Witness the Honorable C C Hewitt Chief Justice of Washington Territory and Judge of the Second Judicial District. this 19th day of September AD 1861
