To the Sheriff of King County Greeting:

In the name of the United States of America you are hereby commanded to take the body of James Riley "if to be found in your County" and him safely keep so that you have him before the District Court for Pierce County W.T. at a time to began and holden at Steilacoom in said County and Territory on the 21st day of September A.D. 1863 "the same being the third Monday in said month." then and there to answer on an indictment pending against him for assault with intent to kill

Herein Fail not and have you then and there you this writ with your days endorsed thereon

Witness the Hon C C Hewitt Chief Justice of Washington Territory Territory and presiding Judge of the District Court for Pierce County W.T. the 24th day of August A.D. 1863
